Global Politics Magazine
is not a magazine in the conventional sense, designed to be read
passively. It is a dynamic project, and all readers are
encouraged to become involved.
Writing for
the magazine
Global Politics Magazine provides a space for writers to make a
full contribution to political debate. Many forums and comment pages allow
readers to express opinions, but few give the opportunity to put
across a complete argument in the form of a published article.
Although hosted in the UK, the magazine is available to readers around
the globe.
As well as the main articles, we
welcome contributions and suggestions for the additional
sections:
-
The
International Perspective section is reserved for
non-UK writers to give a view on international affairs from their
home country.
-
The Insider is an opportunity to swap experiences of working in
the international sphere. If you work in this area, we would
like to hear from you.
-
Think on This looks at
an article published elsewhere which is particularly
thought-provoking or controversial.
-
Fresh Ideas is a collection of punchy summaries of
the biggest, most exciting new ideas out there.
-
Bloggers' Corner where
we invite writers
to join a pool who can make
regular or occasional contributions.
I want to
write for Global Politics Magazine - what next?
We
welcome all articles relating to contemporary international affairs,
but we particularly encourage those
which seek to highlight and introduce new ideas and fresh
thinking in political debate. Please read
the Magazine's statement of purpose
for further guidance.
If you
would like to
contribute, please check the
editorial policy
and our
style guide
and email a brief outline of the proposed
article/debate topic/international perspective/insider's view/blog/Fresh
Idea to us at
globalpolitics [at] global-politics.co.uk
Don't
worry about anything too in-depth. We will provide further guidance on the requirements and discuss any
queries regarding the subject.
Please note
that we may not publish an article if it
lacks a clear argument or is otherwise felt to be of a poor
standard. In these situations feedback and guidance can be given
if required. If English is not your first language then extra
assistance can be given to ensure that language is not a barrier
- please get in touch with any questions.
Work with us!
In the coming months, we will be looking for
motivated individuals to help us expand Global Politics in terms
of content, funding, and web design. If you’d like to work with
us beyond contributing articles, perhaps you’d like to take up
one of these positions:
Section Editor:
The section editor would take charge of
taking in or finding material for one of the following GP
subsections:
From there, you’d work with contributors and
with Lucia, Ricky, or Jake to prepare the material for
publication for the upcoming editions. This is a great way to
get involved with new political ideas and thinking. Previous
editing or journalism experience would be a definite plus.
Webmaster: We
need someone to help run the website! The webmaster would
essentially take charge of helping modernize our site, and
introduce new features that would enable a more fluid exchange
of ideas. Overall, the webmaster would run the actual Internet
site of Global Politics, so experience with website construction
and web design is a must.
Fundraising: In
these hard economic times, some funding to help publicize GP and
pay contributors would be great. It would mean that we could
raise the already high standard of content we have at Global
Politics. The fundraiser will help draw up a viable funding
proposal, and present it to the right channels to obtain
funding. This position would mostly be separate from the other
aspects of GP, based around a schedule that would work best for
you.
Please note that all participation is on a
voluntary basis for the time being. If you’d be interested in
taking up any of these positions, please contact Felipe
Schrieberg at
Felipe[at]global-politics.co.uk
We look forward to working with you!
